SEASONS
GENERAL INFORMATION
Generally, the South Western, Aegean Coast enjoys a HOT summer period with MILD sometimes winters. Turkiye is a very big country and experiences many climates within its regions, but the Aegean Coast tends to be the most comfortable experience if you want sunshine coupled with a cooling breeze.
The summer months of 2007 brought temperatures over the 50C mark which surprised the locals never mind the tourists! Whether that was a freak weather blip or a taste of things to come remains to be seen! I’m told by my Turkish friends that it was ‘VERY HOT this year’…
My first visit was around 10th September and the temperature was a surprisingly constant 36-40 degrees C.
In this area of ALTINKUM and DIDIM there is ALWAYS a breeze to keep you cool, humidity is lower than some mediterranean resorts due to the fact that the wind comes from inland and blows outwards to the sea!
I was surprised when I saw the temperature displayed at 40C because I wasn’t wilting as I’ve often done in UK and other parts of the Med under similar temperatures.
That breeze makes all the difference to your comfort and your holiday, so long as you remember that the sun is STILL STRONG so you need sun protection especially if you’re fair skinned and not a seasoned sun worshipper.
